Hyderabad: City-based EThames Business School, with an aim to create industry ready non-engineering students has partnered with KPMG, a professional services firm. Under this collaboration, KPMG has curated curriculum for six degree courses, which includes B Com in Taxation and Financial Accounting, BBA in Business Analytics and Financial Markets & Investment Banking, BCA in Data Science and AI, and BCA in Cyber Security. After the courses are rolled out in the new academic year, students will get access to mentorship, real-world applications, and interview skills by KPMG professionals.

About 80 lakh non-engineering students graduate from colleges in India, of which about 2.50 lakh are from Telangana. Amidst a volatile business landscape, securing a job is not the problem, but the matter to be addressed here is underemployment, Chairman of EThames Business School, Kali Prasad Gadiraju tells Bizz Buzz, by giving instances of salaries drawn by these non-engineers in the absence of industry relevant skills.

“Every week one global company is setting up their Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad. This trend indicates a demand for hiring. However, how many non-engineers passing out of college with standard academic knowledge will get placed at high package. Only through Industry – academia collaborations we have been able to cut down underemployment along with achieving 100 per cent placements,” Gadiraju informed. Speaking about the newly introduced curriculum, he said, “Our courses are priced higher than others because we are complimenting University’s academic curriculum with industry relevant curriculum. The collaboration with KPMG is undertaken in the direction to bring out industry-ready graduates. We have always roped in industry experts to mentor our students, now with this partnership in place, professionals exclusively from KPMG will lend 100 hours for each semester and specialisation, to cover emerging industry trends, practical skills and applications.” Narayanan Ramaswamy, Head of Education and Skill Development, KPMG in India, informed that the curriculum designed by KPMG, coupled with expert mentorship will equip EThames students to secure jobs at KPMG and similar organisations.
